Raleigh Swim School Safety Rules
To ensure the safety, comfort, and effectiveness of instruction, all swim lessons may only be held when the pool water temperature is at least 82°F.
If lessons are being held at a private pool, parents/guardians are responsible for checking the pool temperature at least 2 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time.
If the pool temperature is below 82°F, families may cancel the lesson with at least 2 hours’ notice and will be refunded for that lesson.
If the swim school is not notified of low pool temperature in advance and the instructor arrives but is unable to hold the lesson due to temperature, the lesson will remain billed for.
To ensure safety while maintaining consistent scheduling, the following inclement weather policy applies to all swim lessons:
Lessons may be canceled due to inclement weather with at least 2 hours’ notice prior to the scheduled lesson time. Cancellations made with proper notice will not be billed.
If a lesson is not canceled at least 2 hours in advance, the lesson will remain billed for.
If families don't cancel, the instructor will still travel to the lesson location and attempt to hold the lesson.
Lessons will be immediately ended in the event of:
Hail
Thunder or lightning
Tornado warnings
Heavy rain where the bottom of the pool is not visible
Wind & cold temperatures significantly interfere with safety or disrupt instruction.
Instructor and swimmer safety is our top priority. Instructors have the authority to determine whether conditions are safe to continue the lesson once on site.
To ensure swimmer safety, health, and high‑quality instruction, all pools used for swim lessons must be properly maintained, clean, and chemically balanced.
Pools must be visibly clean, free of debris, algae, excessive cloudiness, or floating contaminants.
Pool water must be properly treated and maintained with appropriate chemical levels in accordance with standard pool safety guidelines.
If water quality or chemical balance is deemed unsafe or unsanitary, the lesson may be canceled, delayed, or ended at the instructor’s discretion.
Private Pool Responsibility:
For lessons held at a private pool, the pool owner is responsible for ensuring the pool is clean, safe, and properly maintained prior to the lesson.
If the instructor arrives and the pool is not clean or chemically safe to enter, and the swim school was not notified in advance, the lesson will be billed.
Instructors are not permitted to enter or instruct in pools that present a health or safety risk.
Maintaining proper cleanliness and chemical balance is essential for swimmer health, visibility, and overall lesson safety. Instructor judgment regarding pool safety is final.
